Our Purple Marans are a purebred Black Copper Marans with a heavy bloom, they are not a hybrid or cross breed of any kind. We do not guarantee that birds hatched from this line will lay a heavy bloom egg. With that being said, they are a 4th generation of selectively bred birds from heavy bloom lines. The lighter the egg shell the pinker the egg the darker the egg shell the more purple the bloom appears. We hatch the darker eggs for a more purple look but your bird could produce either or none.

Breed Facts: The Black Copper Maran is the standard in Chocolate Brown egg layers. Their first egg will be their darkest and lighten with each egg until she molts. Then the cycle repeats.
We breed this line specifically for the heaviest bloom we can get. Hens must consistently lay a heavy bloom or they are removed from this line to ensure the greatest probability of bloom in offspring.
Darker eggs and eggs with heavy bloom can be harder to hatch and we hatch these separately from other colored eggs for best results. ONLY experienced hatchers should purchase these eggs.
