What Happens After the Chicks Hatch?
Before ordering, it’s important to decide what you plan to do with your chicks. We offer several options to make this easy.
Option 1 – Keep Your Chicks
Many customers choose to keep their chicks and raise them at home.
We can provide guidance on brooder setup, feed, and basic care to help you get started.
Option 2 – Return the Chicks
If you only want the hatching experience, you may return chicks to the farm within 3 days of hatch (by advance arrangement).
This option is popular for families and classrooms that do not want to raise poultry long term.
Option 3 – Rehome your Chicks
In some cases, a friend or family member might be able to provide a suitable home for your chicks. There are also facebook groups for the free adoption of pets.
Important Notes
Hatch rates vary and cannot be guaranteed, as incubation is a natural biological process.
Eggs should be kept indoors in a stable environment during incubation.
A brief orientation is provided before pickup so you feel confident using the incubator.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do chicks smell?
Not during the hatch period. Odor usually only develops later in brooders if not cleaned regularly. It is possible, not likely, to have a bad egg. When this happens it will need to be removed immediately. Eggs are collected daily and stored promptly as well as candled to check for cracks before packing to reduce the likely hood of this happening.
Is it hard to use the incubator?
No. We show you exactly how to set it up.
How long does it take?
Chicken eggs hatch in about 21 days.
How long will I have the incubator?
You will have the incubator for 26 days. This will give you time to hatch your eggs and return the incubator for the next family to use.
What if it breaks while I have it?
The deposit covers any possible damage. Accidents happen and things break or get lost. We will deduct any necessary repairs from the deposit. A replacement turner motor runs about $30, a replacement turner bar runs $14, power supply cord $20, replacement basket $20, etc. We will only deduct what is needed to repair/replace the unit.
What if I can't return it?
Please let us know as soon as possible if you will not be returning the unit. We schedule families throughout the season and incubators become unavailable every year during peak hatching time. The next family might miss out on their planned hatching experience if we are unable to replace it.
