These chicks hatch from eggs with blooms. It can be a lot of bloom or a little bloom so the genetics are there to pass off to their offspring. Breed Facts: The Black Copper Maran is the standard in Chocolate Brown egg layers. Their first egg will be their darkest and lighten with each egg until she molts. Then the cycle repeats.
 
We breed this line specifically for blooms. Hens that lay lighter brown eggs with blooms look pink and darker eggs look purple with bloom. Please note it can take months for the bloom to show and once it does it might not be on every egg. We only keep and hatch from the most consistent bloomy hens.
